Pressure Washing

Pressure washing is a cleaning technique where water is blasted at extremely high speeds and pressure in order to clean surfaces like sidewalks and walls. You can buy pressure washers at many online stores, or by checking industrial tool stores and home improvement stores near you.

The principles behind pressure washing are simple. A hose connected to a water source is connected to the washer. You should only use clean water to avoid damaging the inside of the washer with debris or dirt. Then, this water is compressed using an electric motor or a gas-powered motor. A wand with a handle and trigger emerge from the pressure washer. When you squeeze the trigger, water squirts out at high speed and pressure from the wand or gun. This water can be used to quickly accomplish cleaning tasks that would take 10 times as long or more by hand. For example, a pressure washer can make short work of a dirty sidewalk and remove much of the dirt ground into the surface which would be nearly impossible or at least definitely impractical to remove by hand.

It's important to use a pressure washer safely because it is not a toy and can be dangerous. It goes without saying that you should not spray anyone with the pressure washer! Even at relatively low pressures, this can be damaging to the eyes. Higher pressures may even damage skin due to the extremely fast-moving water. It can be a good idea to use eye protection while using a high pressure washer because not only could the spray get in your eyes, but dirt and debris could fly back toward you at high speeds.

Pressure washers come in a variety of sizes. Smaller lower-powered models are meant for periodic home use. Industrial pressure washers will be larger, more robust, and have higher (more dangerous) pressure in order to be able to accomplishing difficult cleaning jobs faster. You can buy a variety of heads and accessories that can change the shape and flow of the water to best adapt to the job you have on hand. At high pressures, some washers can even do tough jobs like removing paint!

You can search for stores online in which you can buy your own pressure washer or, if you don't need to use it often or have a single job for it, you may considering renting a pressure washer instead. They are quite affordable to rent and should be able to easily fit in the back of a pick up truck.
