Scooter Parts

For the handy person, it can be very affordable to make repairs to your scooter yourself by buying scooter parts online or in a scooter, auto, or motorcycle shop in your area. Most parts for routine maintenance can be easily found through advice in your scooter manual, and if you are confident in your abilities, you should be able to make basic repairs and save money compared to using your local scooter or motorcycle shop.

The most common scooter parts that you may find yourself buying and doing the work yourself for include brakes, oil, and various lights that may have burned out. You can consult the manual that came with your vespa to understand how to perform these routine maintenance tasks. If you have questions about them, it's worth asking your local service shop or a more experienced friend because you don't want to screw up your expensive scooter or worse, do something that makes your scooter dangerous to ride.

There are some scooter parts that you may want to buy yourself, but for which it probably requires a professional to do the repair or replacement work. For example, it should be straightforward to buy a replacement tire, but removing your old tire and mounting the new tire is a complicated job that takes a lot more effort than changing tires on your bike. In this case, it may be worth buying the right scooter parts for the job yourself, and taking them to the local scooter maintenance and repair shop so that you are charged only for labor, and not marked up retail prices for the parts as well. In this case, you need to be absolutely sure that you've purchased the correct scooter parts.

There are a lot of aftermarket scooter parts and modifications that you can buy and perform yourself too. Adding a rearview mirror should be as straightforward as purchasing the correct scooter part and following the enclosed instructions for how to mount it on your scooter. Other accessories such as additional lights and decals may be similarly easy to install on your scooter. If you buy an accessory and it turns out to be complicated to install such as needing to be connected to the main power of your scooter, bring it to the scooter maintenance shop for their advice or assistance on installation.

You can find a wide variety of scooter parts for maintenance and modification online and at your local scooter shop. Buying the parts yourself can save you money whether you make the modifications or repairs yourself, or whether you hire a shop to do the labor with the parts that you have already purchased.
