Surgical stainless steel cookware
A gorgeous set of surgical stainless steel cookware is the aspiration of many modern cooks. There are many places online to read reviews of particular steel pans and you can browse many online stores in order to find the cheapest possible prices.
One great thing about surgical stainless steel cookware is that it's beautiful and shiny, and looks amazing within most kitchens. It's made of the same materials that surgeon's tools are made of, and you know that these are made with the best possible steel to save people's lives. Surgical stainless steel will not discolor or rust over time, even with repeated exposure to water and other foods. It's easy to cook with, and has relatively good heat transmission so that it won't develop hot spots that have the potential to burn your delicious foods.
One problem that some cooks find with their surgical stainless steel cookware is that food sticks to it. This definitely is not nonstick cookware coated with teflon. If you are used to cooking with nonstick cookware, you may need to add a bit of oil, butter or water for your cooking to make sure that your food doesn't stick.
Surgical stainless steel cookware is also difficult to clean if food gets stuck on them. One technique that will help you avoid hours scrubbing your pans is that once you burn food, make sure you put water in the pan afterwards and often the food will soak off by itself. If you forget the water and the food dries, it will be much more difficult to clean. Also, be conscious of how you are cleaning your steel pans: avoid using anything abrasive on the outsides of your pans such as steel wool and scotchbright. Consider also not using metal kitchen tools on the inside of the pans because metal tools will scratch the pans. I personally think that these scratches are inevitable in surgical stainless steel cookware but some people like to keep their pans in perfect condition and therefore prefer to use wood and plastic kitchen tools only.
Owning a set of surgical stainless steel cookware is an investment that requires spending a bit more and being a bit more careful in maintenance but should yield rewards for years to come both in terms of better cooked food and a more beautiful kitchen. Search online to find the best possible deal you can on a new set of stainless steel pots and pans. Any serious cook will not regret this purchase!
