If you have been hurt in an industrial accident at work or elsewhere, you should look into filing an industrial accident claim.  It can be terrible to be hurt in accident at work.  In addition to the pain and recovery, the medical bills can be huge and in some cases, you may not be able to go back to work depending on the severity and type of injury.  In many cases, it is fair for a company to compensate an employee that was hurt in an accident, especially if it was not the employee's fault and could have been avoided through better safety processes or was caused by the company's negligence. By making an accident claim, you are asking the company to compensate you financially for your injury and inability to work temporarily or permanently.  If your company is offering you a settlement, this is good but you should not accept it right away.  It makes sense to consult a lawyer who is knowledgeable about industrial accident lawsuits since it's possible that they are trying to pay you much less than they should.

Finding a Lawyer for Industrial Accident Claims

In almost every case, you should consult a lawyer before accepting a cash settlement from your employer.  It's important to talk with an attorney who specializes in or has experience with industrial accident claims since otherwise they will not be able to give you sage advice about what to do.  It's like that they these attorneys will talk to you for free since this may turn into them representing you in a lawsuit.  Contact at least two different lawyers and honestly explain your situation in order to get their opinion.  They made advise you to accept the money, or they may offer to represent you in a lawsuit to get even more money from your employer.  It may not feel good to sue the employer who paid you for a long time, but you need the company to stay afloat, and a large financial settlement may also encourage the company to be more careful and make that similarly tragic accidents do not happen to other employees in the future.  A lawyer may charge you a fee for representation, or may represent you for free in exchange for a share in your earnings if you do win a settlement from the industrial company. Either way can be good, but keep in mind that you may be paying a large amount of your winnings to the lawyer if you they represent you for free up front. If you don't have any money now, that may be your best and only choice in order to maximize the outcome of your industrial accident claim.
